Meeting peers and authorities to make micro-mobility a success

Understanding the challenges the micro-mobility industry faces, is one of the key topics to move forward within an industry that is here to stay. The Milan City Tech conference took place on November 21 and hive was there to share insights.

“Fighting for space” was the main takeaway of an event that gathered in Milan this week authorities and industry representatives worldwide. - Our sector is competing against old fellows; cars and motorbikes taking the roads, whereas bikes and e-scooters try to find their way through, explains hive’s Head of Expansion Juan Carlos Golindano.

While there’s still no standard legislation ruling the use of e-scooters, the fact of whether they are to be considered a vehicle or not was one of the topics during the event.

“For hive it is crucial to align with authorities in all the cities we operate, be compliant and contribute to a better society, which ultimately is what will open up for a multimodal transportation format with room for everyone” concludes Golindano.

Moving forward, Milan as well as other European cities are opening tender processes to make this change a reality.
